Make Your Holiday Wardrobe Sparkle

Glitter, glitter, everywhere! How to get in the sparkly spirit of the holidays without looking like Tinkerbell?

From party frocks and accessories to eye shadow and lip gloss, it seems that nothing is spared from sparkle this time of the year. While glitter can be a super-fun way to inject some glamour into your holiday outfits, the line between grown-up glimmer and fairytale princess can be a tricky one to navigate.

When it comes to makeup, women of any age can sprinkle some shimmer there, just make sure when using glitter in beauty products that you stick to one area of the face at a time so as not to overpower yourself.

Merry Christmas! Prom or Evening Party

First of all, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. So, I've been working a lot this month and haven't been able to skim as much as I want to. In the meantime, something epic happened... My prom !!!!! It was a lot of fun seeing all of my buddies from school and just messing around.

Another Christmas photo season come and gone, and we enjoyed a few nights photographing guests attending the Christmas parties throughout the nights. The mix of a warm environment, plenty of people out to enjoy themsleves and fantastic food made the evenings brilliant and a great warm up to the Christmas holidays. Fancy dress parties are always a great opportunity to capture some fantastic colourful images, so we were really pleased to attend a 40th birthday party with a film and celebrity theme. There was some great creativity on display and everyone made a big effort to dress for the occassion.

Dresses of every colour and style have been worn, bow-ties, braces and suits worn, and all manner of transportation used to get to the venue - limos, buses, tractors, horse and cart, bicycle.  And we believe a great time was had by all.

Kristen Stewart on Being Invited to a Prom!

On The Road star Kristen Stewart was all smiles on The Daily Show discussing when she first read the Beat Generation book, her progressive schooling and being invited to a prom. And on being asked if Kristen was able to experience other standard American school institutions, such as prom, she answered: "I kind of got to design my curriculum, somewhat, it was cool. It was independent study." But, she said, "I was invited to a prom at one point. I was like who's going to show up to a prom? The school barely existed!...

Looking effortlessly cool in a striped Beckley dress topped with a Band of Outsiders blazer with the sleeves rolled up, Kristen was happy to talk about the first time she read On The Road and her progressive school, explaining: "I saw On The Road on the reading list as a freshman, that's how I read it for the first time. That probably says something about the school I was going to. I think it's usually a little older, or possibly, not at all."

First Date-Night Style Ideas

Sexy, flirty, and fun. First dates should really be about wearing something that makes you feel good, makes you feel sexy, and lets you be comfortable. Girls are different than guys in a number of ways, one of which is the time and effort we put into getting ready (and stressing over) a first date. You've only got one chance to make a first impression. Well, that holds especially true on a first date with a new guy.

Something casual. Something flirtatious. Something so he can see your curves but still leaves something to the imagination. Something so that he can dream about the way your curves are going to feel. Nothing that is too in-his-face. When it comes to fashion, we all have our own personal style and what works for one woman might not work for another, but it's pretty safe to say there are some things that just don't work for anyone, especially on a first date.

Lace is great, but not if it's showing your midriff. That's just a little too much distraction going on. Guys don't like a lot of heavy makeup, but they do appreciate that you look very polished. Too tight looks odd, and too baggy looks sloppy and like you don't care about the date. Aim for a happy medium that's just right for your body type. Make sure your pants fit well around the waist - you should be able to put three fingers comfortably in the waistband, but not much more - and that the hems hit around the bottom of your ankles. Shirts should cover your waist without falling past your butt. When you're picking out a shirt, choose a shade that flatters your natural coloring. To highlight blue or green eyes, try a cool, dark color such as slate grey or navy blue. To highlight brown or hazel eyes, try a warm, light color such as maroon or off-white.

Base the formality of your attire on where you'll be going. If you're going to a casual movie, wear a nice pair of jeans and a slightly dressier shirt than you usually would. For an upscale dinner, wear dark slacks with a long-sleeved, button-down shirt; during colder weather, add a well-made sweater on top. Your first date probably won't require you to wear a tuxedo or a suit, but don't show up in the same outfit you'd wear around the house on a weekend morning. Remember: you want your outfit to hit about the same level of formality as what your date will be wearing. If you're unsure, ask your date what the dress code is or what they'll be wearing.

6 Celebrity Prom Pictures

Prom season is in full swing, and you know what that means—box tuxedos, up-dos, corsages, and inevitably cringe-inducing prom date photos. Celebrities really are just like us -- they go to prom wearing goofy dresses and take photos with that sunset backdrop too. Don't believe me? If you're looking from some prom dresses or hair inspiration, or you just want to laugh at how celebrities looked before they were famous, check out these celebrity prom pictures.

Sarah and Todd Palin
Considering this photo of Sarah and Todd Palin was taken in the '80s, the most awkward thing about it is how they both look pretty normal. Oh, and that demonic-looking chair that's creeping up behind them.

Taylor Swift's Prom Photo
OK, so this wasn't that long ago, but doesn't Taylor Swift look adorable with her prom date?

Natalie Portman's Prom Photo
Before she was a gorgeous Oscar nominee, Natalie Portman was just a normal girl heading to prom with her friends (and a giant corsage, but that's OK).

Jennifer Aniston's Prom Photo
Jennifer Aniston got to re-live her prom days in a couple "Friends" episodes, but we think she was cuter in real life.

Demi Lovato's Prom Photo
Demi Lovato has a very impressive limo for prom (that would be a Rolls Royce for you non-car aficionados), her prom dress is pretty too.

Michelle Obama's Prom Photo
Michelle Obama is rocking a pretty racy prom dress -- do you see the leg slit? Side note: her date looks old enough to be her dad, but that might just be the mustache.

It's so much fun looking at celebrity prom pictures from before they were famous, but I love looking at their prom dates even more. What do you think?

For Girls: How to Dress Like a Fashion Blogger

Be comfortable. That might sound boring, but go for what you feel comfortable and beautiful in. If you feel it, you are it! That's a good slogan.

Embrace denim as a wardrobe staple. Seek new cuts to update each season: They can be slouchy, cropped, or wide. You'll always want a new pair.

"When I don't know what to wear, I always go all black, so maybe that's why I'm dressed in black pretty often." Elin Kling in her capsule collection collection for Guess by Marciano.

How to Buy Custom Made Prom Dresses Online

I guess that every girl dreams of a custom-made prom dress. The mention of custom-made prom dress reminds us of these adjectives - fitted, exquisite, splendid, high-end and unaffordable. With the consideration of customer's skin tone, body shape, occasion needs and special requirements, a custom-made prom dress meets every need. While, the expense makes teenage girls flinch. Today, you can order fabulous custom-made prom dresses online at a relatively lower price. Select any style you like, choose any color at your own will and do any changes you want.

Making custom-made dress online is really simple if you offer your accurate body measurement numbers. To help you put off your doubts, I will show you how to take body measurement. Typically, body measurement requires you to measure the size of your bust, waist, hip, height from head to toe and the height of heels. Then you need a cloth tape measure, a pencil, paper and a mirror. Check in the mirror to make sure that you have got a straight line in every step.

Step 1. Measure your height of head to toe. This is the length from your head to toe. You should stand upright and your feet should keep together. Take your height without shoes.

Step 2. Measure your bust. Wear your everyday bra and face the mirror.  Have someone wrap the tape measure around your back and forward to the fullest part of your bust. Also take the over bust and under bust to make it precisely.

Step 3.  Measure your waist. Tie the tape measure so it is snug and comfortable around your waist and record the number on the paper.

Step 4. Measure your hip. You have to get the measurement of your fullest low hip here. Wrap your hip with the tape measure, and check yourself in the mirror to make sure you have got your fullest hip.

Step 5. Measure the height of your heels. This is the heel height of the shoes you are going to wear on prom.
Now, everything's ready. Click your mouse and order your dream dress here on MagicDress.co.uk.

How to Keep Prom Costs Under Control

Since teenagers have more important worries, from prom dresses and tuxedos to flowers, photos and limo services to finding the perfect date, coming up with the cash should be the least of their concerns. With a touch of savvy planning, students can find smart ways to keep prom costs under control.

1. Most limos have four-hour minimums and require tipping, which could result in a bill of $400 or more. Divided among several friends, the cost can be affordable. However, party buses that hold more people than limos are a fun and more affordable option, so search around for prices and negotiate among several companies. Also, consider the possibility of borrowing a nice car from a parent or relative.

2. Share camera duties with friends for an honest record of the evening. Photo prints at CVS or Snapfish cost as little as $0.15 per picture and offer the option to create digital photo albums for a more memorable and less expensive keepsake.

3. Every teenage girl wants to look like a princess at prom, but blowing your budget on a formal prom gown she will wear only once isn't a smart purchase. Consider a simple cocktail dress that will serve double duty for post-prom celebrations, like college formals and weddings. Don't forget to compare prices online and search for dresses and women's shoe coupons to score even better deals.

4. Dig through grandma's or mom's jewelry box to find retro costume jewelry or a vintage clutch to pair with your dress. You could also ask your sister, cousin or friends if you can borrow a fabulous pair of earrings or necklace for the special evening.

What Is Junior Prom?

If your school has a separate junior prom, it can be a lot of fun to just get together with your friends and have a fun night out. Senior prom may be open only graduating seniors and their guests, and junior prom may be for underclassmen. Going to junior prom can be a lot of fun for teens who have reached the end of their junior year of high school. It is a great excuse to dress up, get together with friends you may not see often enough.

Like the senior prom, the junior prom is all about formal attire. Typically, girls dress up in fancy prom dresses, and guys wear suits or tuxedos. Probably the most nerve-wracking thing about junior prom, or any other school dance for that matter, is finding a date. Lots of teens attend with a group of guy and gal friends, where there are multiple unattached people. This way, everyone gets to enjoy the fun of the prom without the pressure of having to find a date.

Junior prom is a lot of fun and will give you a night full of memories to last the rest of your life. Before the prom, girls might want to go out and get hair and makeup done together or head to one friend's house where there are lots of mirrors and everyone can get ready as a group. For those guys who are dating someone at prom time, this can be a good opportunity to go out to a fancy or romantic restaurant and have a slightly more grown-up date than you're probably used to. It's a good idea to decide beforehand what you want to do after prom. This is especially important if you're dating someone and you're feeling that prom night peer pressure to take your relationship further than you might be comfortable with.
