A Young Man’s Guide to Prom
High school guys aren't typically known for their sense of style. They are known for burping, crude gestures, saying horribly inappropriate things, and talking endlessly about girls and sports. So, you should make your guy look hot on prom party.
When it comes to prom, there are generally two groups of people: those that think "Prom is awesome! I'm really excited to go," and those that grouse, "Prom is sooo lame. What a waste of time." Really, both groups are right. Prom can be a fun and memorable night, or it can be a big letdown. The difference doesn't come from prom itself, but what you make of it. Special nights don't just happen–you create them.
The most important thing for staying stylish for prom is to keep it simple. The most timeless stylish men of the last 50 years, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart kept it simple. Avoid gigantic lapels and multicolored jackets. Go with a basic black tuxedo with peak or notched lapels. In most places in the U.S. prom is a black tie affair, so that means you'll need a tuxedo. For most men these days, whether young or old, life gives you very few chances to wear a tux–so enjoy it! Guys don't necessarily need killer dress shoes to complete their prom ensemble! He can still look cool rocking his everyday Chucks and have a great time dancing the night away in comfort.

Skinny Ties
Guys can never go wrong with a skinny tie. They have a retro look that's totally back in style! Solid colored ties make for easier gown-matching, but one with a graphic pattern works just as well—as long as it falls within your same color scheme.
Accessorize During Photo Time
Remind you guy to bring out his favorite glasses and other fun accessories during picture time! Accessories can make fun props that turn the awkward pre-prom pictures into an fun photo shoot. Prom pictures would be boring if all the guys looked the same! So you can ask your date to opt for a gray tux or a collared dress shirt instead.
For Guys: Feel free to go crazy with personal style. If you've got the stones for it, why not try going without both, that says confidence.
